Group work is a process, which takes time and effort and a supportive environment within the school. Through a programme of games, exercises and activities, students self-awareness and self-esteem can be raised allowing them to develop more meaningful and effective relationships with teachers and peers.
Group work gives students the opportunity to examine their attitudes, feelings and behaviour outside of the normal classroom setting. Group work is aimed at improving students attitudes towards school and their relationship with teachers. and peers. During group work students can explore the values and beliefs which affect their behaviour. This can give them an insight into why they behave in a certain way and can lead to them considering alternative approaches to deal with situations.
